d. Put slide on stage in the depression at front of stage insert.

 All of our objective lenses are designed to be used with

#1.5 coverslips.

e. Push the slide forward, under the two metal clips (to no particular distance; just so the slide is held

by the clips).

f. Using joystick, position sample under objective lens.

g. If you lowered stage by tapping Load position, return stage to work

position by tapping

 If you ever wish to establish a

new vertical work position for the

stage (e.g. because your slides are

substantially thicker or thinner

than those of an earlier user), tap

Load position, adjust stage to new

desired work position with focus

knobs, then tap Set Work

position.

15. Viewing sample through the eyepieces.

a. Select Vis, either by pushing Vis button on left side of scope

by clicking Vis button on monitor.

b. To examine your sample by transmitted light (TL), turn on

halogen lamp by rotating TL knob

clockwise until a comfortable light level is seen

through eyepieces. With TL button,

TL can be turned off and on (and it will return to the last intensity

used).

c. Locate and focus on area of interest using joystick and focus knobs.

d. If desired, increase magnification by tapping button on touchscreen

for a higher-power objective lens (as in 14b). If you select one of the

immersion objective lenses, lens will swing into place and stage will
