7 Focusing
There are focusing knobs on both sides of the microscope. The outer wheel is for coarse adjustment
and the inner wheel is for fine adjustment. The actual speed of the stage depends on the
magnification of the objective.
There is a programmable limit which prevents focusing too close to the sample. When the limit has
been reached the “beep” sound can be heard. Sometimes the limit might be set incorrectly. The limit
can be overridden by pressing the button on the left side of the microscope (Figure 12). Keep the
button pressed and focus. The new limit will be set when the button is released.
